Journaling God’s Word through Drawing

by Evan

Melvin Ang, 2019, Singapore

When COVID-19 happened and Singapore went into Circuit Breaker mode in 2020, I was very stressed and worried about my job. My sleep was affected and I felt spiritually dry. While reading the Bible, I decided to draw out on paper what I read from the Bible and allow the Scripture to take root in my heart.

My favourite drawings are the ones with Peter and the rooster, as well as Jonah in the belly of the big fish. These show me that God doesn’t just look at our victories; He loves us so much that He appreciates the moments when we want to hide away from everyone—these are the moments when we yearn for Him and Him alone.

One day, I was in the presence of God and praying for an image when the blood of Christ came to mind. This is what I wrote to God in thanksgiving …

Your blood – I am forgiven
The cross – no longer condemned,
Continue to guide me in Your ways.
I want to know You more each day.
With You, I’m never alone.
Thank You so much
I love You, Jesus.

Your Child
